Accounting software for sole traders in Ireland

You do the work. Keep the paperwork in order.

Agree the quote after the call-out, send the invoice once the kitchen is finished, and keep track of materials and bills on your phone between jobs.

7-day free trial, no card needed. Then €19 a month for one person.

  • Invoice after the job

Labour, materials and any agreed discount.

  • Keep the receipt

Add a photo from your phone and check the details.

  • Know what is still owed

Record each payment, including part payments.

What you have spent this month

Each cost keeps its category, its supplier and the receipt behind it, so the month’s spending is one list instead of a drawer of paper. What customers still owe is one click away, under Invoices.

Before the work begins

From agreed work to money received.

Send a clear quote with the work, price and a valid-until date. Your customer can accept or decline online, without creating an account.

When you are ready, turn the quote into a draft invoice. The customer, line items and agreed discount carry across for you to check.

Quotes are included on every plan. Invoices you create count towards your plan’s invoice limit; on Lite, quotes do too.

How two sole traders handle a week of paperwork

Plumbers, electricians, carpenters and designers can invoice by the hour, the day or the job, and the paperwork that follows is much the same. Here is a week of it for an electrician on site and for a designer at a desk.

  • Priced by the day: the quantity and the rate sit on the line, so the customer can check them.
  • Not registered for VAT: say so once in your settings and new invoice lines carry no VAT.
  • The supplier invoice is read from its PDF. Its VAT is not reclaimed, so the whole €49.20 is the cost.

A receipt becomes a checked cost.

Thermal receipts fade in a warm van. Take the photo at the counter; NumWise reads it and you check each value before anything is saved.

Asked before the first invoice

Working with a bookkeeper or an accountant? See how NumWise works for small teams and for accountants. For the VAT rules themselves, see our guides to the VAT registration threshold and the VAT3 return.

I am not registered for VAT. Is NumWise still for me?

Yes. Record in your settings that you are not registered and new invoice lines stay at 0% VAT. Invoices, costs, bank statements and the profit report work the same way.

How long does it take to set up?

You create an account, enter your business name, address and whether you are registered for VAT, and you can write the first invoice. The 7-day trial does not ask for a card.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes, in the phone’s browser; there is no app to install. On the new cost screen you can add a receipt straight from the camera or your photos.

I keep my books in a spreadsheet. Can I bring them?

Customers and suppliers come in from a CSV file. Past sales invoices can be imported from their PDFs: you check each one, and it keeps its original number unless that number is already taken. Bank history comes in from statement files.

What happens when the 7-day trial ends?

Nothing is deleted. You can still view and export everything and contact support. Creating and changing records needs a paid plan, from €9 a month.

Try it on next Monday’s invoice.

7-day free trial, no card needed. If you leave, you can export your records.
